Everything I design and finish is one of a kind, handmade professional quality at a reasonable price. They are created with an aesthetic eye and lots of patience, but more importantly they are made to be used hard and every day, and to endure with proper care.
Unable to afford a custom cutting board? I offer a sliding scale and/or flexible payment option upon request for those without criminally high discretionary incomes (no hedge-funders). If you would appreciate a board but not normally consider paying for the luxury, please talk to me directly and tell me what you like and what your range might be. Seriously. If the desire is there, I want you to have its object. Nearly all wood is reclaimed from a busy cabinet shop or three, originally sustainably harvested. The wide variety of exotic woods I come across are likewise reclaimed and given second lives.
Bamboo may be easy to grow but the bottom line is grass makes an awful cutting surface (all the chefs agree). So treat yourself and treat your knives to a real chopping surface that will keep your good cutlery sharp, self-heal to remain looking new, and potentially last a lifetime, or two. Most important, it should give you pleasure every time your eyes and hands pass over it, and every time that you apply the mineral or other suitable oil (frequently, one hopes).
Shipping anywhere is possible. More precise quotes for any zip/country code available upon request.
I do custom orders frequently. Nearly any size and shape, any species and any combination of safe woods is possible. Contact: matt[dot]christie [at]gmail[dot]com.
